The Creamery is coming…MMMMmmmmm
Wellington’s Java Dance Theatre sell-out in Edinburgh and have just signed with an agent in China but right now they are bringing the premiere of their new work The Creamery home to Wellington. The Hannah Playhouse will be transformed into a milky delicious world as Java create a new ADULT work inspired by cheese-making - and yes they really do make cheese on stage! It's the third in the
Java entertained kids with Cheese for Capital E earlier in the year and The Creamery promises to give adults a new perspective on the rich creamy transformation of milk into cheese. Java’s artistic director Sacha Copland has researched cheese at the Drunken Nanny Goat farm (home of award winning cheese) as well as in a French country village.
Sacha has been choreographing from Wellington for 14 years, starting Java at the tender age of 21 and now tours all around the world with her award winning company. Last year she did a Tedx talk in Wellingtonhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sA2YIL4VmR0 and she has become part of the Next Generation international programme, where they put 20 directors from all over the world in room together for a week to see what they come up with. She just returned from South Africa to make The Creamery.
Sacha Copland - For me The Creamery is summed up by this quote from Charles de Gaulle
“How can anyone govern a country that has 246 different kinds of cheese”
