Performance Spectacular Stage Challenge® & J Rock™ Returns to Dunedin!
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
New Zealand’s largest and longest running youth performing arts event has kicked off its 25th nationwide tour!
(18/04/2017– AKL, NZ) - Stage Challenge® and J Rock™ is excited to announce that Dunedin’s Edgar Centre will host a massive night of the internationally acclaimed event at 7:00pm on Tuesday 9th of May.
Excitement has been steadily brewing throughout the year, as Stage Challenge® and J Rock’s stellar nationwide tour involves 16,000 participants from up to 200 schools and has ingrained itself as a highlight on the calendar for youth throughout New Zealand.
It aims to motivate young people to engage in positive and healthy lifestyles, while providing the opportunity to be part of a performing arts spectacular that will create long lasting memories.
Stage Challenge® is delighted to deliver an amazing event of creativity and expression, which gives young kiwis the opportunity to showcase their skills in dance, drama and design in a safe, exciting and dynamic environment. This first class experience carries with it key messages of attending school regularly, goal setting, staying fit and healthy, and having fun without tobacco, alcohol or other drugs.
This year’s Event Manager Shanell Bielawa, believes Stage Challenge® and J Rock™ is a special organisation to be involved in due to its ability to make such a positive impact on so many young people’s lives adding, “Stage Challenge is once again excited to see the talent and creativity from all the schools involved. The Foundation gives the youth the perfect chance to showcase their talent while gaining invaluable life experience.”
For many months, students, teachers, parents and wider communities have been working relentlessly - perfecting every aspect of their performance with the common goal of creating a spectacular show for performers, volunteers, audience members and all involved.
Some of New Zealand’s premier venues will play host to this year’s shows, which are sure to provide the platform to a young person’s development in resilience, confidence building and self-esteem. Students work together by combining their creative, youthful minds to portray social messages, political messages, significant community concepts, and pure fantasy through their performances.
The 2017 Stage Challenge® also has scope for teachers to use elements for NCEA assessments in subjects such as dance, drama, woodwork, art and textiles.
