LYDIA COLE TO RELEASE NEW ALBUM ‘THE LAY OF THE LAND’
+ New single ‘Telepathise’ and an Australasian tour
Rounding off a year in which Lydia Cole’s star continued to rise, the Auckland singer-songwriter is preparing to release her second full-length album THE LAY OF THE LAND, due out on February 17, 2017.
Before that, she’s giving us a sneak peek of what’s to come with her exquisite new single, ‘Telepathise’, out on December 9.
It follows on from the upcoming album’s first two singles ‘Dream’, which earned Coleher second Top 5 finalist spot in the prestigious Silver Scroll Awards, and‘Sober’, which clocked an impressive 100,000 spins on Spotify in just one month of release.
‘Telepathise’ is a delicate, yet epic, soundscape that encompasses all that Cole’s music has come to represent – lyrical artistry, melodic mastery and quiet contemplation. It is these qualities that truly shine through on the accomplished nine-track album, THE LAY OF THE LAND.
To mark the album’s release, Cole is touring New Zealand and Australia, kicking off in Brisbane on February 23 and ending in Wellington on March 11.
Cole first made her mark in 2009 with her debut EP LOVE WILL FIND A WAY – a lone voice making itself heard through words and melody lines, accompanied by empathetic beds of harmony. Her first full-length album ME & MOON followed in 2012, drawing critical acclaim.
She has gone on to develop a loyal following and a reputation as a captivating live performer, supporting the likes of Ed Sheeran, Diana Krall, Brooke Fraser, and earlier this year, José González, who personally selected her to open at his Auckland show.
The next chapter in Cole’s already impressive career is an exciting one and it begins with THE LAY OF THE LAND.
