SKYCITY Breakers looking for preseason venues

Published: Mon 4 Jul 2016 11:48 AM
The SKYCITY Breakers have asked for tenders from promoters or venues from around New Zealand to host 1 of 3 preseason games. Pettigrew Green Arena have expressed interest in tendering for 1 of the 3 games. The games will be played against an ANBL team or equivalent and all available SKYCITY Breakers players in the country and fit will be involved in the game. The preseason games are scheduled for mid to late September.
The SKYCITY Breakers will as well as playing a game engage in the community with school coaching sessions and coach development sessions.
Pettigrew. Green Arena General Manager Dan Rodden quote
“it is an exciting opportunity to have a team like the SKYCITY Breakers, who play in one of the top basketball leagues in the world play in our facility. It showcases the standard of our facility and it gives the Hawkes Bay great exposure. It will also give local Hawkes Bay kids an opportunity to get up close with the stars of the game in New Zealand through their community events”.
SKYCITY Breakers General Manager Dillon Boucher quote
“I think it is fantastic having Hawkes Bay tender to host a pre-season game. PGA is a fantastic venue to hold a game and the Hawkes Bay Area is very strong in basketball with a big following. I know they would love to see one of the legends of basketball in this area and Head Coach of the SKYCITY Breakers Paul Henare come back into town. The public would get a chance to not only see the team play but also see them at the community events that would be scheduled around the game”.
A decision will be made shortly on the regions the SKYCIYTY Breakers will visit.
