The sky’s the limit at Meridian Kids Magic
Saturday’s free event Meridian Kids Magic is all about the kids – whatever age they are!
Head up to the Soundshell in the Botanic Garden from 11am and enjoy a fantastical kids’ day out with plenty of sing-along, dance-along, play-along fun.
We’ll be on the look-out for the best kids’ costumes, so come dressed to fly and you could win a year-long Movie Premiere Pass from More FM. There will also be Phoenix tickets, event passes, and loads of spot prizes up for grabs on the day.
Mayor Celia Wade-Brown says, “It’s great to see Wellington City Council providing events like these as part of our plan to build a successful, vibrant city for our kids, families and the young-at-heart.”
Events coordinator Delia Shanly says, “The sky’s the limit as far as dress-ups are concerned!
“We can’t wait to see all the costumes on the day, and with these incredible prizes on offer it’s well worth making the effort but most importantly we want people to have fun and let their imaginations fly!”
Gerry Paul and the Elephant Tree Band along with the Royal New Zealand Air Force Band will be there to entertain you and take you on a magical musical flight, while the League of Live Illustrators will bring your children’s imagination to life with mega-scale art.
Councillor Eagle, Chair of the Council’s Community, Sport and Recreation Committee, says, “This is one of the best kids’ shows Wellington has to offer, located at our beautiful Botanic Garden and it’s all for free!”
Fairy Cat will also be in attendance, doing what she does best as she enchants children with her suitcase full of fun and delight.
All kids love science with Dr Sarah Kenworthy. Watch or join in as she conducts hands-on experiments, while giving kids the tools to explore the world around them.
Wellington face painters will be working their magic transforming children into fairies, butterflies, super heroes and monsters. You’ll be able to capture the magical day with The Amazing Travelling Photobooth.
11am–2pm, Saturday 23 January, Botanic Garden Soundshell. Rain date Sunday 24 January.
