Taupo: Gardens Flowers & All That Jazz
Gardens Flowers & All That Jazz is a new take on Taupo’s ever popular St Andrew’s Church Garden Walks.
St Andrew’s vicar, Reverend Peter Minson says they’ve welcomed back the garden walks to help celebrate 85 years of service in the Taupo community.
“Think festival, flavours, art, music and fabulous flowers. There’ll be a lot of hoop-la, bebop, outside action and indoor entertainment, ” he says. “Yes, we’re fundraising but we want to put the fun back into it.”
The event starts on Friday (20 November) with a bright opening night cocktail party, entertainment and the opportunity to be the first to see floral displays, including a floral carpet, in the church.
The garden walks happen on Saturday (21 November) between 10am and 4pm. Nine of the town’s most beautiful private gardens will be open for viewing, some for the first time ever, and each with a unique point of difference, themed for the event and hosting a range of demonstrations.
“Each garden has a unique point of difference; we’ll have classic cars, Christmas displays, live jazz and classical music as well as art and sculpture for sale,” says Rev’d Peter.
Refreshments will be served at St Andrew’s from 4.15 till 5.30pm – sip and sup and listen to the St Andrew’s Choir for Boys entertain.
Tickets are $90 for both days or $50 for Friday night and $50 for Saturday’s garden walks. They’re available on line www.gardenwalkstaupo.nz or from St Andrew’s Church, 91 Titiraupenga Street, Taupo.
Ends.
