The Measina Festival
The Measina Festival is a showcase of Contemporary Samoan Art and Artists presented by Jandals Inc and Le Moana, in association with Te Rakau Trust, and hosted by Whitireia NZ.
Wellington Based companies, Jandals Inc and Le Moana will present The Measina Festival taking place at 25/27 Vivian Street (Performance Centre) on 26th - 31st May, featuring performers from around the country celebrating Samoan culture, language and stories through dance, music and theatre.
In May 2014, Jandals Inc and Le Moana co-produced the first ever Measina Festival.
The festival was a sold out success!
Due to the overwhelming community response, Jandals Inc and Le Moana made the decision to turn this exciting endeavor into an annual event, expanding our 2015 festival to include work from more Samoan practitioners, recent graduates of the arts, and our youth night. This expansion has not only increased the variety of performances on offer, but we hope will broaden the festivals reach into more communities. Performances are presented by Samoan practitioners from the Wellington, Porirua and Hutt Cities. These practitioners have worked with well-known NZ artists from all over the country, including Black Grace, Te Rakau, Tawata Productions, The Conch, Pani & Pani, Paris Goebel and more.
Event prices range between $5-$18
Tickets can be purchased from Whitireia by visiting www.thetheatre.co.nz
