Hold onto your tail feathers, because the prestigious Miss Burlesque New Zealand, now in it’s sixth star studded year, is shaking Auckland's “White House” in April 2015 - headlined by International burlesque Superstar Dirty Martini (New York, USA), voted #1 in the world by her fans for four consecutive years.
The one and only MBNZ, is the original high class annual pageant and Burlesque show celebrating and challenging the art of creative tease in Aotearoa. Returning triumphantly to the heart of Auckland City, contestants from both Islands will vie with glitter, tassels, ostrich plumes and signature crowd pleasing moves, for the esteemed title and coronation ceremony naming the new Queen of New Zealand Burlesque. Sprinkled with a delightful selection of performances by our industries local stars and starlets, the cherry on the top (or should that be olive?) will be the “Sexpot Sophisticate” (New York Magazine) and definition of modern burlesque, Miss Dirty Martini.
Dirty Martini has been named by New York Times as one of the “most creative strippers” and sets the standard for burlesque performance internationally. A favourite of original burlesque stars from the 40’s and 50’s, Dirty Martini co-stars in Dita Von Teese’s touring show ‘Strip, Strip, Hooray!’, has made appearances in films, articles, tv shows and documentaries worldwide, and is a celebrity to hundreds of thousands of fans.. Dirty Martini’s sought after workshops and one on one mentoring sessions will also be available in New Zealand for a limited number of people in select cities as she tours our country with Cabaret Royale (Booking details below)
With 2014’s Royalty Isabella Darling (Christchurch) and Ivan the Red (Auckland) preparing to hand over their crowns to the new blue blood, whilst contestants NZ wide put finishing touches on elaborate costumes and routines… Miss Burlesque New Zealand 2015 promises to be truly unforgettable. The Reigning Queen this year, will also take home a trip to London, with MBNZ covering 50% of the winners airfare. This years glamorous event is hosted by the fabulicious personality “Felicity Frockaccino” and brought to you by New Zealand producer Catherine Prescott, who is currently living in London and not only producing shows and tours in her spare hours, but also working as a full time live in carer for the disabled. .
Miss Burlesque New Zealand will be held on Saturday 18th April 2015 at the White House: 371 Queen Street, Auckland. Doors open 6.00pm, show starts 7.00pm with prizegiving announced at 10.
