Alpha Gallery Presents – HeARTS and Crafts - “cheap as chips” group “cash and carry” show
Come and purchase your Christmas presents and spend a fun day with us, whilst supporting artists with intellectual Alpha
Gallery is the gateway to Alpha Art Studio – a community studio space for adults with intellectual disability to
come and create and also to learn valuable life skills. We do it all from cooking, IT classes, Soccer to printmaking,
jewellery and painting. We also volunteer in the local community with organizations such as city mission, wellington
time bank and meals on wheels.
Based in central wellington the studio opened a Gallery in July 2013. This group show “Hearts and Crafts” will see loads
of cheap art and craft for sale made by the artists of Alpha Art Studio, staff and some friends!
We will have our entire premises open from 10am-2pm on Saturday Decemeber 13th for an open day. This is an opportunity
for the public to come and see what we do at our unique space. There will be entertainment, games, a Koha present
wrapping station (for outside purchases too), face painting and a collaborative canvas too – all welcome, very family
friendly.
Artist Denise Dennehy has this to say about exhibiting “I love it! It helps me to make sweet money, honey! It’s really
good fun”.
This open day is also an opportunity to show all we have to offer the wider community:
- We have wellington’s first fully accessible toilet with hoist and change bed available to use to the public.
- A professional gallery available to hire in 2015 for artists outside of our service.
- Various rooms available to hire for your next meeting or event.
