ARENA Exhibition Receives Much Needed Kick-start
A+ Productions has successfully raised over $2,800 towards their ARENA exhibition which is due to take place mid-year in Auckland. Funds were attained through crowd funding site, Kickstarter.
With money still pouring in for the campaign days before closing, expectations for the first ARENA exhibition are high.
Adding to the success of the campaign is the new found partnership between A+ Productions and ticket retailer, iTicket. iTicket will manage the ticket sales for the 150 person capacity venue, with tickets expected to be swept up rather swiftly on a limited public release. A+ Productions director Joselyn Khor is overwhelmed by the support the campaign has received in such a short amount of
time, “It was nerve-wrecking to begin with. The question of whether we’d get funding hung over our heads. Then the video came out and we were fortunate enough that people related to the message and wanted to back it. People have just been incredible believing in this and wanting it to succeed.”
With funding now secured, and a band of supporters in place, there is pressure to keep the momentum of the campaign rolling.
Artists on board to attend the event include freelance filmmaker, Joey De Guzman, fellow film
director, Peter Haynes and Prestige dancer, Omar Nasim – who will be performing a dance set as
well as debuting his fashion line, Murd_r x Intent. The filmmakers will showcase recognised works, Tumbang Preso and AFK respectively.
Khor herself will premiere the first episode of her web-series The Ghost. Other artists are presently on hand, but Khor says to make the event truly spectacular, more are needed. “There’s so much heart in the creative arts community. So much passion and talent. Now we get a chance to showcase
that thanks to our supporters. I’m really looking forward to seeing how people can tell their own unique creative stories at the exhibition.”
“At this point we’re looking for more people willing to let others appreciate their work by stepping into this arena of fellow artists.”
Tickets for the event will be available from June onwards at www.iticket.co.nz
