Sou’Westers Going West for Performance at the Old Lodge Theatre Hokitika
Going West is the name of the album by the Sou’Westers and now they are truly going west or coming together west as tickets go on sale for The Sou’Westers concert at Old Lodge Theatre in Hokitika on Saturday 31st of May
It is the first time for the Sou’Westers performing on the coast since Wild Foods a couple of years ago. Since then they have released their album Going West which spent 6 weeks on the New Zealand album charts and been nominated for New Zealand Country Group of the Year and the local member of the band Dean Hetherington, having been a finalist in last years MLT Songwriting awards, for writing the title track of the album “Going West”. The other two members of The Sou’Westers are Aly Cook from Tasman who was named New Zealand Female Country Artist of the Year 2012 & Multi award winning songwriter Liam Ryan from Christchurch best known for being a member of iconic kiwi band The Narcs and Midge Marsden Band.
The Sou’Westers have performed gigs last year from Northland to Nelson to Gympie Music Muster in Australia, where they booked again to perform in August.
On the 31st of May they come to the coast to perform at The Old Lodge theatre in a small intimate concert. Sou’Wester member Aly Cook says “The Old Lodge Theatre is a lovely venue, we always love to come to the coast for Its beauty, inspiration & it’s people, we have sold a lot of CDs on the coast and I hope people will book to come see us perform the songs… Last time we were on the coast together was for the filming of our music video for Going West at Granity.”
