$30,000 Gala windfall for Pukerua Bay School
Pukerua Bay School’s annual gala has yet again been a fantastic success, bringing in an outstanding $30,000 for the school.
Principal Mary Jones says there are many helpers from the school and local communities who put in a huge amount of effort for Gala day, so seeing results like this are truly rewarding.
“The weather made us a bit chilly with a ‘Seaside’ theme this year, but it didn’t dampen our spirits, or the people that attended. I’m always astonished and excited to see how many people support our school, and this year was no exception.
“Visitors seem to love the many bargains, the fantastic entertainment, food and activities for the kids. And with the return again this year of Fairy and Elf Land we made sure the younger children had fun too.
“The support we get from our sponsors means we get to keep our costs down and receive some wonderful prizes to give away or items to auction. It really is this support that ensures the success of the day.”
The proceeds from this year’s Gala will go towards purchasing computer and technology equipment. The children are looking forward to getting their hands on the new computers, says Mrs Jones.
“Having important, modern resources available in every class, will boost children’s enthusiasm and interest in learning - I’m just as excited as the children!”
