Miss Clawdy brings a slice of Mardi Gras to New Zealand
March 04 2014 marks the annual tradition of Mardi Gras and this year, Miss Clawdy brings a slice of the New Orleans
carnival to New Zealand, giving Kiwis the chance to dine and celebrate with the rest of the globe.
Mardi Gras, French for Fat Tuesday, praises sweet tunes, great food, dazzling colour and enough beads to paint a town
purple, gold and green. To kick-start the exciting carnival season, Miss Clawdy will introduce their Fat Tuesday
sessions with DJ Bobby Brazuka as well as a Mardi Gras affair with DJ Nick D on the big day, to give food enthusiasts a
taste of a little Mardi Gras magic.
Building up to the big day, Fat Tuesday sessions at Miss Clawdy will practice the traditional art of eating richer and
more decadent food before the ritual
fasting of Lenten season. On Tuesday February 18 and 25, 6-8pm, diners can start the week with an indulgent pairing of
Miss Clawdy’s Southern Fried Jerk
Chicken with cocktails to match just for the night.
Special Mardi Gras cocktails on offer include the Miss Clawdy Front Porch with Cherry liqueur and mint flower, French
Quarter Lemonade and the Miss Clawdy
Pimm’s Cup with strawberries, mint orange wheel and cherries.
DJ Bobby Brazuka will serenade Wynard Quarter with carnival tunes and the infamous Mardi Gras tree will be created for
diners to dress up during the night with colourful beads and will be lit up on March 04.
Mardi Gras Day will be the day to save an appetite for, as Miss Clawdy’s ultimate Southern Mardi Gras menu will be
created exclusively for this day. Hay roasted whole suckling pig, caramel popcorn, Louisiana barbeque sauce and fried
bread will be just one of the many dishes on offer and one not to be missed.
Renowned DJ, Nick D will kick off the Mardi Gras tunes from 6-9pm and a dance performance by talented carnival dancers
will give diners the chance to experience Mardi Gras in true Southern spirit.
Mark New Zealand’s first Mardi Gras experience at Miss Clawdy on 04 March 2014 from 6pm. Miss Clawdy Fat Tuesday
sessions will take place 18 and 25 February 2014 6-8pm.
