New 4.30pm show announced for TV2

Afternoons on TV2 will undergo an exciting makeover in 2014, with TVNZ securing funding from NZ on Air for a brand new
4.30pm show.
The new show, which has yet to be named, will premiere as part of TVNZ’s new season line-up next year.
For the past five years, the 4.30pm zone has been dominated by local favourite The Erin Simpson Show. The Erin Simpson Show has been a staple of after school viewing with namesake host Erin entertaining Kiwi kids with her unique brand of
humour and wit.
Originally planned as a three year series, the show went from strength to strength securing an additional two years of
NZ on Air funding and fun.
But after a phenomenal 770 episodes, Erin is passing the torch to a new generation.
Erin says of her experience, “It’s been a privilege and an honour to have been involved in The Erin Simpson Show and to bring Kiwi stories to our young people. I wish the new 4:30pm team all the best of luck on their journey –
they’re in for a fun ride!”
Whitebait-TV, the creators of The Erin Simpson Show and What Now, are well-known for launching young talent. Erin is no exception to this rule, with plans to release her
first single with Illegal and Warner Music as well as future acting and presenting roles in the pipeline.
Producer and co-founder of Whitebait-TV, Janine Morrell-Gunn says the new 4:30pm show will be a friend in the afternoon
with content that is real and relevant to young teen life. “While global pop culture and what is ‘now trending’ has its
place, our 4.30 show will have its roots deeply imbedded in NZ culture and local stories of success,” she says.
TVNZ’s Children’s Commissioner, Kathryn Graham says, “We’re excited to freshen up the 4:30pm show in 2014, with a whole
new generation of talent. Erin has big shoes to fill, but we have no doubt she’s paved the way for the future.”
Auditions are currently underway to find talent with the same star quality as Erin Simpson.
Further details around the new 4.30pm show will be revealed as part of TVNZ’s New Season Launch activity.
