With a headliner in the form of Harlem rapperA$AP ROCKY (with full live band), the hottest ticket in hip-hop.
A$AP Rocky stormed the hip-hop world upon the 2013 release of his top #10 album ‘LongLiveA$AP’ and has towered amongst the pack with this brave document of where Rap and Hip Hop culture is headed.
A blurry mix of lyricism, slowed down rave synths and featuring a star studded line-up of guests including Florence Welch, Santigold, Skrillex and rap contemporaries Kendrick Lamar, Drake, 2 Chainz and more, ‘LongLiveA$AP‘ is unavoidable in the clubs and on the street. A$AP Rocky tore Auckland apart upon his first visit and promises to be the toast ofMartinborough when he returns with his 11 piece live backing band and A$AP Mob Hypemen to spit lyrical on New Year’s Eve.
New Zealand festival favouritesKORAwill bring their explosive live show to La De Da, soaked in sonic space funk, armed with thunderous bass attacks and capable of incapacitating the audience. Known as one of the country’s must see live experiences.
New Zealand’s first lady of soul and hip-hopLADI6returns to La De Da hot on the heels of the release of her critically acclaimed third studio album ‘Automatic’ and fresh from touring the European summer festival circuit.
Nothing says New Zealand summer like Hamilton’s reggae and roots royalty KATCHAFIRE. With their irresistible R’n’B and funk filled grooves and good time vibes, they have become a global roots phenomenon all bundled in a diversity of instrumentation and a clarity of sound.
Australian based kiwi mixologistOPIUOtakes fun-fuelled electronic music, adds funk and syrupy bass sauce to make an adventure into sound that churns dance floors into milkshake mix.
Spark up an electro fuse and a twist of house, blended with a galvanizing slowed down beat, andPEKING DUKis served. Catapulting onto the Australian music scene, these Canberra bred commanders have brought to the table a little more than a knife and fork.
WHAT SO NOTmake their live New Zealand debut at La De Da festival 2013. The infamous duo (one half skyrocketing electronic act FLUME, one half flaming DJ rockett EMOHINSTEAD) mix, remix, rewire and fire wild beats and throw down groove-based house, thrust to the extreme.
PLEASEPLEASEare the 2013 breakout act that smash techno into electro pop and blend it through their very own sun-soaked, Mount Mauganui flavour. Sure to be a late afternoon festival favourite.
Melbourne based producerNICK THAYERrounds out the lineup. Hand picked by Skrillex to join his OWLSA label whilst still in its infancy, Nick Thayer’s Like Boom EP (Feb 2012) and the follow up Worlds Collide EP (June 2013) shine with impeccable production and sparkling details.
