Double Elimination Sees Fletcher Mills and Maaka Fiso Leave ‘the X Factor Nz’
A dramatic double elimination tonight saw Fletcher Mills and Maaka Fiso leave The X Factor NZ leaving only eight acts remaining to fight for The X Factor NZ title.
The programme’s first double elimination saw three acts in jeopardy after the public votes were counted; Fletcher, Maaka and Gap 5.
Fletcher had the lowest public vote and was eliminated immediately, leaving Maaka and Gap 5 to sing for their survival. Maaka sang Bob Marley’s ‘Is This Love’ and was sent home by the judges.
Tonight he said:  “This experience has been one of the best of my life and I will always remember it. I have grown and it’s pushed me as an artist.”
Maaka’s mentor Stan Walker said:  “I’m just disappointed.  Maaka has the best voice in the competition.”
Fletcher Mills joined the Top 13 as a wildcard after being previously eliminated at the Judges’ Retreats stage.  Tonight he said: "Thank you for allowing me to come on this journey."
Fletcher’s mentor Ruby Frost said: “I’m so proud of how far Fletcher has come. He has become such a strong performer with so much to give. He’s one to watch.”
The elimination leaves Tom Batchelor, Benny Tipene, Whenua Patuwai, Cassie Henderson, Jackie Thomas, Anna Wilson, Gap 5, and Moorhouse still competing for The X Factor NZ crown;
The remaining eight acts will take the stage at 7pm, Sunday 16 June, and sing to stay in the competition in the next LIVE Performance Show.
