Silo Park Announces March Calendar Including ‘Silo Sessions – Christchurch Edition’, ‘White Night’ And More
Silo Park is excited to announce its March activity which includes the fourth instalment of Silo Sessions, as well as collaborations with the Auckland Fringe Festival, the Auckland Arts Festival, ‘Fashion in the Big Little City’ and the Silo Cinema schedule.
To celebrate Christchurch, and to mark the two year anniversary of its disastrous earthquake, Silo Park will present a free event for the community – ‘Silo Sessions – Christchurch Edition’. This fantastic musical event features an amazing line-up including Lyttelton's own Al Park, The Eastern, and Lindon Puffin. These well-known NZ muso’s will pack up the songs, the traveling sacks and throw the banjos, fiddles, acoustic guitars, bullet mics and harmonicas and travel to Auckland to help raise money and awareness of the challenges still being faced by Cantabrians.
March is also the month for collaborations down at Silo Park. This Friday 1 March sees an appearance from ‘Snake the Planet’ and ‘Jeu Play’ as part of the Auckland Fringe Festival. On Friday 8 March, Silo Cinema presents ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’, as part of the ‘Fashion in the Big Little City’; followed by BeSpoke on Sunday 10 March – a special, free event where local fashion designers will come together to show their latest styles, as well as a full market of designers and bicycles, fashion shows, street food, music and more.
On Saturday 16 March, Silo Park will team up with the Auckland Arts Festival’s brilliant ‘White Night’ from 6pm. Art projects and performances will spill into Wynyard Quarter, with highlights including the best of ‘Art in the Dark’, dance film ‘Virtuosi’, and ‘1000 LOVERS’, an extraordinary performance work choreographed by Carol Brown tracing Auckland’s waterfront from the sea to the city with mythical men and women. The Silo Night Markets will also be open for business during the evening, featuring Fly By Night Vintage, Wall Spice, Clink Jewellery
Silo Cinema also carries on throughout March with some exciting films including a Double Feature this Friday 1 March – ‘Herb and Dorothy’ and ‘Kaikohe Demolition’. Followed by ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’ (March 8), the much-anticipated ‘Marley’ (March 15), ‘Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark’ (March 22), and ‘The Castle’ (Mach 29). Guests can grab dinner at the Silo Markets every Friday from 5pm for the perfect Friday night outing.
The Silo Markets also continue into March, taking place on Friday nights from 5pm and Saturday’s from 12pm – 6pm. The Saturday markets are a fantastic place to grab a bite and peruse an eclectic array of stalls, with a focus on vintage and vinyl markets for March.
