THE HOLLIES have earned a rare achievement in world music. Fifty years touring and recording.
Never compromising their original sound.
The band that helped to shape the world of Rock and Pop as we know it today will tour New Zealand in late January & early February 2013 to perform their Classic Hits, including –
The Air That I Breathe, He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother, Long Cool Woman (in a Black Dress), Stop Stop Stop, Carrie Anne, Look Through Any Window, I’m Alive, Stay, Sorry Suzanne, Just One Look, On A Carousel, Bus Stop, Too Young to be Married, I Can’t Let Go…
The Hollies were last in NZ for a sold-out 8-show tour in the summer of 2011. This time they return to Auckland and will perform in cities they missed in 2011 – Dunedin, Palmerston North, Napier and Hamilton, before embarking on an Australian tour.
“Amazing. Epic. A very memorable experience”
“A highway of hits that drew a rapturous response from a packed house that seemed to know every word of every song!”
The NZ and Australia leg of this global tour will mark the final engagements of the huge Hollies 50th Anniversary Tour, which has been celebrated around the world over the last 12 months. The stage show features top shelf production values and brings The Hollies hits to life - absolutely true to the original recordings. The Hollies who have enjoyed a record breaking 22 Top 10 hits were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2010 ‘For their impact on the evolution, development and perpetuation of Rock n’ Roll’.
Since emerging as an important component of the magnificent sixties British Pop Revolution The Hollies’ hallmark sound has not wavered during their fifty years of recording and performing live around the world. Front-man Peter Howarth delivers a faultless performance absolutely consistent with the fine Hollies tradition of superb harmonies and classic popular music arrangements. The famous 6 - including Tony Hicks and Bobby Elliott who have been playing together since 1961 – weave a unique sound never to be copied by any other entertainment group.
In the 1960’s The Hollies had more hit singles than The Beatles and along with The Rolling Stones and The Searchers they are one of the few British pop groups of the early 1960’s that have never officially broken up and continue to record and perform.
