Wellington company SmartShow provides mobile event app at Frankfurt BookFair
New Zealand company SmartShow Limited is delighted to be providing it’s smartphone event app ShowGizmo to put New Zealand at Frankfurt into the palms of the hands of attendees via their mobile phones.
“We’re thrilled that ShowGizmo has been selected by the Ministry for Culture and Heritage and the Publishers Association of New Zealand (PANZ) to be the official app for this celebration of Kiwi literary creativity and to be a part of such an important initiative for New Zealand internationally,” says Frances Manwaring, SmartShow’s Managing Director.
By using ShowGizmo, PANZ will be able to make all its event information available to visitors to the New Zealand Pavillion and New Zealand’s other locations at the Book Fair. When they download the ShowGizmo app to their phones, attendees get access to background information about participating authors, publishers and details about the extensive programme of events that are being staged over the five days of the Fair and afterwards. Attendees can request meetings with exhibitors, rate and review programme sessions, collect brochures and receive live alerts and notifications about what’s going on. For New Zealand exhibitors using the inbuilt QR codes enables them to capture those all-important leads. The system’s performance reports mean that the organisers can access statistics and analytical data they wouldn’t otherwise collect to provide additional insights into what people have done using the apps.
“In a world where digital publishing has moved into the mainstream and where technology is increasingly an integral part of the deal, having an event app has a nice symmetry. But it also extends the life of the
New Zealand presence to more than just the duration of the Book Fair itself as people can still access all the great content once they’ve returned home.”
SmartShow’s apps have powered events in every continent except Antarctica and for some of the biggest names in the industry – IBM, Informa, Reed Exhibitions amongst them. Founded in 2010, the company has received seed funding from local investors, Angel HQ , and a consortium of Tauranga investors and has recently expanded operations. Being selected to provide the app for New Zealand at Frankfurt is a proud moment for the high growth company which currently generates most of its revenues from Australia, the UK and the Middle East.
“We arrived at Frankfurt Messe this morning to set up and the scale of the event is mind boggling. Hundreds of thousands of people are expected to visit the New Zealand Pavilion. We’ve been selling ShowGizmo all over the world, but this is the biggest event we’ve been involved in so far, it’s awesome” says Manwaring.
