Warmup cycle team names five for Benchmark race
Media release 7 may 2010
The Warmup Cycling team has named a roster of five riders for the third Benchmark series race of 2010 being held this Sunday, and are focused on earning bonus points.
From a squad of 15 riders Michael Crawford, Michael Ferigo, Amanda Minty, Brent Harris and
David Roche will contest the 133 kilometre Hamner Springs to Kaikoura course.
The team has entered the minimum of five riders so far in the series meaning they have been under a little pressure to ensure they finished to pick up valuable ranking points, Team Manager and Marketing Manager for Warmup Kelly Chapman said.
“Due to various commitments we have only been able to field the minimum of five riders so far, and even with a couple of challenges - like cramp and punctures – we have had five finish in both races so far so we have four points, plus one bonus point Amanda earned, which is a solid start.”
But Chapman says the team is keen to pick up more bonus points to improve on their second category two team placing (12th overall) and their best chance is with fifth placed female Minty.
“Amanda’s been riding really well and she is capable of holding her own with the leading woman so we’ll be looking after her on Sunday and looking for a result.”
After racing the first two rounds, missing from the line up this weekend due to personal and work commitments and injury are John McKenzie, Greg Scott and Arron Perriam. Stepping in for their first Benchmark race this year are Harris, Crawford and Roche.
