Place in Space
An Exhibition of Artworks in Progress
Thursday November 12th to Sunday November 15th
The Print Factory, 35 King Street, Mount Cook, Wellington
Place in Space is an exhibition of large scale artworks in varying stages of completion which offer unique insight into
the creative process’s of the artists involved. The show highlights the process of creativity over the finished product.
The artworks range from sculpture to video to cross stitch and are as diverse in format as they are in the ideas that
inform them. Works include a Morris Minor in the process of an unusual restoration, paintings inspired by the story of
Moby Dick, a self sufficient garden, large scale video work and an old clinker converted into a space craft about to
attempt an impossible flight.
A large disused factory space supplies the perfect site for a show. Over the four days of the exhibition, The Print
Factory site will play multiple roles as gallery, workshop, test space, and laboratory. Some artworks will respond
directly to this environment, while others will create environments within it.
Place In Space is an excellent chance to see young Artists work in their complete or incomplete stages that outlines a
trajectory but not the destination.
Place in Space opens on Wednesday 11th of November, from 6pm to 8pm, with beer sponsored by Tuatara Brewery and
featuring a live performance by Wellington based kazaamBLAM!
Featured Artists: Catherine Caudwell, Hannah Edmunds, Andrew Ivory, Shane McGrath Christina Oldfield, Douglas
Stichbury*, Mike Ting, Johnathon Titheridge and Samantha Wallis.
