THE JOKE STARTS HERE
The NZ Comedy Trust presents
Comedy Unplugged
Fringe Festival audiences are in for a treat when Comedy Unplugged delivers super-fresh material from some of our finest local comedians. The guerilla
two-hour showcase at Fringe Bar lets audiences become comedy crash test dummies every Monday night of the Festival season.
With the 2009 NZ International Comedy Festival looming Comedy Unplugged offers comedians a chance to test out their show concept and perform new material to a live audience. The feedback from audiences will determine what sinks or swims. Punters will get the rare opportunity to take a peek at their favourite comedians in full unedited glory, tracking what makes the cut in their festival show in May 2009.
Jamie Bowen, Noor Razzak and Benjamin Crellin take turns at hosting the 2 hour showcase of four comedians. As hosts they face the challenge of wrangling the untamed gags into a fast paced, riotous night of unplugged comedy.
Jamie Bowen (NZ) recently appeared in TV3’s A Thousand Apologies. Fast paced story telling and limitless energy are Jamie’s trademarks. Jamie was awarded Best Show Concept for his 2008 festival show Shooting Ducks. Noor Razzak (IRAQ) has been performing stand-up for over a year. He is a Wellington favorite and two-time winner of the Wellington Raw Comedy Quest (2005 and 2006).
Benjamin Crellin (NZ) has been performing stand-up since 1995. A seasoned international performer Crellin recently returned from a successful stint on the UK circuit.
