DOCHERTY TOUR GOES GANGBUSTERS
Bevan Docherty has shaken enough hands and met so many new people this week he feels like he is running in the upcoming parliamentary election – and he is loving every minute of it!
The Beijing Olympic Games bronze medalist has been touring the South Island sharing his Olympic experience and showing off both the bronze and the silver medal earned in Athens.
In all once the tour concludes in Nelson on Monday, Docherty will have visited 20 schools, numerous triathlon clubs and attended a dozen or so public functions and gatherings.
“This week has just been a blast, a great chance to spend some time with people who in their own way are right behind me and supporting me and other New Zealand athletes when we represent our country. Any chance I can get to repay that support and faith is well worth it.”
Docherty winds up his tour and presentations with a visit to Christchurch today, dropping in to Christchurch Boys High in the afternoon before an evening function jointly hosted by the school and the Canterbury Tri Club.
The weekend sees Docherty head to Nelson to wind up the tour with a couple of appearances over Labour Weekend.
