Line-up announced for PAO PAO PAO 2008
Toi Māori Aotearoa* is proud to announce the line-up of contemporary Māori musicians selected to play at PAO PAO PAO 2008.
The artists are Whirimako Black, Brannigan Kaa, Ariana Tikao, Pacific Curls and Ruia. For profiles on these artists, go to www.maoriart.org.nz
This year’s line-up includes the winner of APRA’s Maioha Award 2008, Ruia and the first Māori artist to have a waiata in te reo Māori selected as a Top 20 Finalist in the Silver Scroll Awards, Brannigan Kaa.
Event Manager, Ngahiwi Apanui says PAO PAO PAO is a great way to celebrate those artists who have had achieved industry recognition and enjoyed international success.
“We’ve got a line-up that will bring the house down. This is Wellington’s only chance in 2008 to enjoy our best Māori musicians in one hit.”
The two-hour show at the Wellington Town Hall on Friday 31 October 2008 includes stunning vocal performances and a range of musical genres including soul, jazz, reggae and funk all with Māori musical influences.
