MEDIA RELEASE APRIL 2008
What Makes A Great Mum? – You Decide!
Vote for NZ’s Mother of the Year at www.motheroftheyear.co.nz
With Mothers Day just around the corner and the Mother of the Year Awards drawing to a close, now is the time to get online and vote for the Mum that you think is most worthy of the Mother of the Year title.
All votes will be counted towards the prestigious Mother of the Year People’s Choice Award, so go to www.motheroftheyear.co.nz and get voting!
This nationwide search for the country’s most deserving Mums is the brainchild of Minka Phillips, founder of Mothers Online, an online community devoted to Mums, and aims to acknowledge the incredible women in our lives who look after and love us unconditionally.
Now it’s up to you, the public, to decide who is worthy of the People’s Choice Award.
The ultimate winner of Mother of the Year will be determined by a panel of judges and announced in time for Mothers Day (Sunday 11 May). The panel of judges is made up of celebrity mothers; Sarah Bradley from Good Morning, Alison Quigan from Shortland Street, Polly Gillespie from ZM and the Honourable Steve Chadwick, Minister of Women’s Affairs and a trained Midwife, along with Mothers Online blogger, Jennie Bradford, and Minka herself.
Minka comments; “The quality of Nominees has been awesome, and it has been something really special to see people sharing how great the mothers in their lives are, and how much they are loved. There are of course still a couple of days left to vote for which of the nominees you think is worthy of the Mother of the Year title, or to nominate your Mum, and give her a chance at the perfect present for Mothers Day!”
The Mother of the Year will win a fabulous prize pack including: a Kia car for six months, two nights luxury accommodation staying at Auckland’s Crowne Plaza hotel, a Rinnai Energy Saver heater, an Elba washer and dryer from Fisher & Paykel, a Slim Down, Shape Up plan from Dr Damian Kristof, a set of Dyrberg Kern jewellery from NeelearNomad.co.nz, a year’s supply of Bell tea, a year’s supply of Gravity coffee and goodies from Griffin’s, Naturopharm, TV2 and more. The four age category winners and the People’s Choice winner will each receive a prize pack to the value of around $3000.
If you would like to vote for the mothers who have been nominated so far, please visit: www.motheroftheyear.co.nz. Votes will be accepted until midnight 2 May 2008.
