New Zealand electronica band Heat Like Me opened sales of their debut EP, titled "You Want It", this month, featuring entirely analogue synthesizers.
The band are a four-piece live electronica act, whose music can be compared to contemporaries The Knife, Hot Chip and Goldfrapp. "You Want It" captures the warmth and spontaneity of the band's live performance, combining electronic drums and analogue synthesisers with pop vocals. This debut EP explores elements of electro, funk, and Detroit techno, presented in a fun and accessible manner, and features collaboration with Wellington rap artist Tommy Ill.
After their first performance, the group were one of only a handful of musicians invited to showcase at Wellington radio station Radio Active's 30th Anniversary party. Shortly thereafter, Heat Like Me were asked to play support for Australian electronica act, Sneaky Sound Systemto a sell out crowd. The group then picked up the attention of notable club night Electroluxxe , who invited them to perform alongside BFM award winning UK acid house trio Pig Out.
Heat Like Me have enjoyed considerable support across the country, with radio play on Radio Active , VBC and other radio stations across NZ, as well as positive press in publications Fluro Magazine and Bandwagon, music websites thefastlife.org, cheeseontoast.co.nzand NZ music blog Einstein Dressed As Robin Hood .
The Wellington band recently made their Auckland debut at Whammy Bar, and will tour Australia in support of their EP in June.
