The NZ Festival of Colour

How do you know whether you're an artist, if you've never picked up a paintbrush or made a mask?
The inaugural Festival of Colour comes to Auckland's North Shore on April 12. It invites art lovers from all walks of
life, to come and try their hand at creating their own masterpiece.
The event is part of the NZ Festival of Body Art, which builds up to the flagship NZ Body Art Awards on June 14.
A junior mask making competition for pre-school and primary school children will find the Weta Workshop geniuses of
tomorrow, while face painting contests will be held in four categories, from intermediate school students to a cut
throat battle between industry professionals.
The festival will also be a showcase of the breathtaking talent and creativity of the country's leading body painters,
including winners of the first two annual NZ Body Art Awards.
It will feature performers, dance troops, stalls, music, kite making & flying, demonstrations, formula 1 sports cars, fire trucks, obstacle courses, bouncy castles, painting competition on
life size mannequins and body painting exhibitions.
And if that isn't enough colour to stimulate Auckland's retinas, the festival will be capped off with a fabulous not to
miss Fluorescent Dance Party for all ages with a fire poi show, and fluorescent dancers.
So Aucklanders should put on their brightest clothes, grab their glow sticks, pack the kids into the car and head for a
whole day of new experiencing colour.
