A Geekosystem
Adam Hyde and Julian Priest
Free walk-in workshops: 18–22 February 2008
A Geekosystem Launch: Friday 22 February 2008, 5:30pm
Project Exhibition: 23 February–22 March 2008
You are invited to contribute to A Geekosystem!
A Geekosystem is a collection of interconnected recycled devices constructed, contributed and connected by visitors to
the gallery.
Throughout the entire week (18–22 February) anyone can come to The Physics Room and work with Adam Hyde and Julian
Priest on the construction of A Geekosystem.
You are welcome to bring gadgets for recycling, come to teach others how to make things, learn some stuff, bring old
electronics or an idea for something you want or build, or just bring your own enthusiasm! The doors are open and we are
here to teach you or help you make things and teach others.
To initiate this process Adam and Julian have prepared some gadgets you might like to learn how to make from recycled
materials. Ever wanted to build your own TV transmitter? What about an FM transmitter? Want to make your own solar
panel? Make your own long distance internet wireless network from tin cans! If this sounds good to you then please feel
welcome at The Physics Room anytime during the hours of 10am–5pm. Components will be provided and a free walk-in
workshop will operate within the gallery to allow people to come and learn how to construct and add these devices to A
Geekosystem.
Those keen to contribute other ideas, gadgets, and informal workshops to A Geekosystem are invited to bring a project of
their own to build at the workshop, or bring an existing device to integrate into A Geekosystem in some way.
Friday 22 February is the launch of A Geekosystem. Invite your friends to the opening and show them what you have made!
