Kiwi Men DO Wear Pink Shirts
Contrary to popular belief, Kiwi blokes are comfortable wearing pink - according to the results of a recent survey about
men’s shirts.
Not only this, men don’t just wear what wives and girlfriends choose for them – they are buying their own shirts.
More than 1,000 men across New Zealand were asked what they do or don’t do when it comes to the shirts on their back, as
part of a survey conducted by one of New Zealand’s leading business shirt retailers.
Of the results, some of the most notable include 75% of respondents admitting to feeling comfortable wearing a pink
shirt, 97% buying their own shirts, 12% admitting they don’t wash their shirt after every wear and almost half revealing
they wash and iron their own shirts.
What’s more, of those who wash their own shirts, many have a secret stain removal tip for removing lipstick from their
collar. A few of the more insightful techniques include eucalyptus oil, lemon juice and white spirits – with the
revelation they’d burn or bin the shirt if they couldn’t get rid of the stain! Another handy tip is to “always make sure
you choose a girlfriend who wears the same colour lipstick as your wife”… especially if she washes the shirts.
Men were also asked to describe their favourite shirt with some divulging a special ‘pet’ name for their favourite,
including the “bling”, “deal breaker” and “pulling” shirt, while another game individual admits to looking like Brad
Pitt in his favourite number.
3 Wise Men Managing Director Richard Miles says the survey was a fun and interactive way to get guys thinking about how
the shirts they wear reflect who they are as an individual.
“This survey gave us a real insight into the male psyche and reveals just how important looking good and feeling good is
for the majority of New Zealand men,” says Richard.
“It really brought home the fact that most guys like buying their own gear. Gone are the days where men grin and bear
the shirts their wives buy them - they know what they like and are confident enough to make their own decision.”
“We want to encourage men to be creative and have a bit of fun with their shirts - we hope this survey has sparked an
interest.”
3 Wise Men was founded by three friends three years ago, after a discussion over a few glasses of red wine about the
difficulty of finding a good shirt It specialises in selling good quality cotton business shirts. There are four 3 Wise
