Speed Dating Craze Comes To The Capital

Speed dating is the latest dating craze hitting the capital as young, busy professionals turn their backs on traditional dating.
Numbers Speed Dating is one outfit capitalising on the demand for organised singles events in the city. Event Organiser Cathy Allan says “Speed dating is the busy person’s solution to finding a partner. We do the ground work by selecting the right mix of people on the night and the rest is up to them.”
The events are held in upmarket bars where 12 sets of males and females spend 5 minutes chatting, enough time to figure out whether they would like to see each other again.
Before the event is under way participants are given a blank piece of paper where they write down the names of their dates and put either a yes or no next to each name. “If you have put a ‘yes’ to someone who has also put a ‘yes’ to you, the next day you will receive an email giving you the names and contact details of the people you matched with.
The nights cost $25 per person with 15% of profits going to charity.
Information on Numbers Speed Dating events is available at www.numbersdating.com
The next Numbers Speed Dating event will be held at Sandwiches on Kent Terrace, October 4th.
