An Out-of-Money Experience
A high stakes theatre experiment that will have you questioning your conscience….
What does $20 mean to you? Is it a mobile phone card? A week’s worth of coffees? Or is it an unpaid parking ticket?
Perhaps it is Friday night drinks after work or even a night out at a show?
This is the question New York performing artist Sara Juli poses to the audience in her highly entertaining 60 minute
theatre show, The Money Conversation.
Each night the normally-sane Juli brings $5,000 from her bank account – in cash – to the theatre and quite simply offers
it to the audience with a “Take it, it’s for you”. As the evening progresses the ante is upped - $50, $100, $300 … The
question is, will YOU take it? Do you keep the money or place it in the deposit box at the exit? Will your conscience
cope with the fact you’ve just taken another person’s life-savings, right out of their hands?
The Money Conversation is based on Sara Juli’s own experience of financial discussions with her husband, an experience
she describes as squirm-inducing. Juli approaches this normally taboo subject in the most daring of ways, releasing her
money demons and challenging the audience’s own relationships with the all-powerful dollar.
The Money Conversation is a dialogue you will want to have and we are certain you will go home richer for being in the
