Entrants Called For 2007 Christchurch Casino Sauvignon Blanc First Taste Awards
The Christchurch Casino Sauvignon Blanc First Taste Awards recognise the finest Sauvignon Blanc wines made solely from South Island grown grapes.
The awards have been held and run by Christchurch Casino since 1996 and continue to enjoy growth each year.
“This year’s awards promise to be bigger and better. We will hold public tastings throughout October, as well as an industry judging evening. The awards will be presented at a gala dinner at Christchurch Casino on 1 November, a night I’m sure will be enjoyed by all who attend,” says Christchurch Casino Food and Beverage Services Manager William Livett.
More than 150 wineries are currently being invited to enter their savs into the First Taste Awards.
To maintain the awards’ premium positioning in the South Island, this year’s entries are again being limited to 50. Chief Judge Terry Copeland will undertake a blind tasting to determine the final 50 entries.
“These awards are always extremely popular and constantly attract some of the country’s top vineyards.
“Last year’s First Taste award winning wine, Kim Crawford Small Parcel Sauvignon Blanc, went on to win a gold medal at the Air New Zealand Wine Awards,” says Terry Copeland.
Entries close on 14 September 2007.
