MAGS Triumph at Sydney Opera House
The Mount Albert Grammar School orchestra has just returned from a hugely successful performance at the Sydney Opera House.
The orchestra has already built a strong reputation, and its director and Head of Music and Arts at the school, Milica Zjajic-Moon, was delighted with the opportunity to perform in Australia:
The Sydney Opera House is world famous for its architecture and its acoustics, she says, and this was an enormous opportunity for our students, performing in front of 2500 people at this fantastic venue¹.
The orchestra, numbering almost fifty musicians, had been rehearsing intensely for several months and produced an excellent performance on the day. ŒThe audience gave us the loudest and longest applause of all of the groups who took part in the concert, says Mrs. Zjajic-Moon. The the students have shown real commitment, and were excellent ambassadors for their school and the country.
The concert, held on Monday 18 June, included an Australian orchestra and a music group and choir from the United States.
