NZ Women Show Their Love Of Travel Via The Internet
Auckland, Monday, November 20, 2006 - Women in New Zealand are more internet travel-savvy than their counterparts
through the Asia Pacific region, according to ZUJI, the internet based travel agency.
In its latest online travel report, ZUJI.com reports a 52% to 48% split of New Zealand men and women respectively who
are booking on the ZUJI.co.nz site. This compares with splits of 58% to 42% with Hong Kong and Singapore bookers, and
56% and 44% with ZUJI Australia.
ZUJI.co.nz general manager David Allen says the report revealed how much influence women have in organizing itineraries
and their confidence in booking global travel through the internet
“Consistently over the past two years and even today, it’s mostly men who book online on many other ZUJI.com sites
around the region. But women in New Zealand are closing the gap. A higher percentage of women book travel online on ZUJI
than they do in other countries monitored, including Australia.
“The finding supports a growing trend in New Zealand for businesses to use the ZUJI.co.nz site, where we know that many
secretaries and PAs make bookings on behalf of busy executives.
ZUJI also reported that New Zealand travelers are “one night wonders” with over 45% of hotel bookings for one-night
stays.
“It shows our location on the world map with long haul travelers wanting to break their journey with a one-night
stop-over,” explained Allen.
Hong Kong was the most popular hotel destination. Sydney and Brisbane were first and second respectively as the most
favoured city destinations with London in third spot.
ZUJI.com has around one million members through the Asia Pacific region.
