New Zealand's Young film Makers Exposed
New Zealand's short film competition for secondary schools has produced ten great finalists for the Waikato Institute of Technology (Wintec) annual CUT! competition. (See all finalists' details below)
"Great films, high quality and a lot of fun! It's a fantastic result and the judges are going to be hard pushed to arrived at an ultimate winner," according to Head of Wintec's School of Media Arts, Margi Moore.
"Cut!" is an annual competition open to NCEA level two and three students nationwide. Run by Wintec's School of Media Arts for the third time, the competition has produced some stunning work," she said.
The "Cut'06" overall winners will be judged by Angela Littlejohn who has spent 15 years as a producer in the United Kingdom in the film and television industries, Peter Salmon, a former director for Weta Workshop, Wellington, is currently a writer for the Gibson Group, and Paula Allen is Head of Media Studies at Hamilton's Hillcrest High School and works alongside NZQA and the Ministry of Education as a Media Studies consultant.
The finalists will be screened at Rialto Cinema in central Hamilton on Sunday 29 October at 11.00am.
