Island idyll for Colgate® Max Fresh™ speed dating champs
Two Cantabrians have a four-day date with two Aucklanders at an idyllic tropical island hideaway next month. Relaxed romance may be in the air – or not - but it’s “rapid romancing” that will have got them there.
The fortunate foursome who will get together at Mangoes Resort, in Port Vila, Vanuatu, are Aaron Lines (Christchurch), Leigh Gray (Christchurch), Lazrus Simons (Auckland) and Naomi Driver (Auckland).
They were the regional winners of last night’s Colgate® Max Fresh™ Speed Dating Challenge, which was played out over 90 minutes in simultaneous events at the XO Lounge in Christchurch – with ZM’s Bridget Howard as MC - and Auckland’s Metropole Lounge, where local ZM DJ Mark Hewlett managed the momentary match-making.
“New Zealand’s first-ever speed dating “date-off” was judged a great success by both participants and organisers,” said Gabrielle Squires, of Colgate-Palmolive.
“We were totally delighted and overwhelmed by registrations - over 700 eligible guys and gals jostling for 100 places across the two venues.”
Speed dating has been described as a “pass-the-parcel promenade of prospective partners” – and that’s exactly how it works. One male and one female sit together for a three-minute “date”. When the bell goes, the guy moves on to the next date, while the lady awaits her next incoming suitor.
If either party to any date seeks further contact with a particular person, he or she ticks that name on his or her list. Where there’s a mutual desire to meet, the organisers follow-up with confidential contact details – and nature is allowed to take its course.
Several other Challenge contestants took home prizes besides future date email addresses. These included Coronet Peak ski passes, restaurant vouchers and, of course, samples of the new confidence-boosting Colgate® Max Fresh™.
“Colgate® Max Fresh™ and speed dating are made for each other,” says Gabrielle Squires. “When you’ve got a new date dropping by every three minutes, it’s great to be able to have fresh breath confidence so you’ll be ready for anything the date may throw at you!”
