The Nelson based New Zealand Radio Drama Competition is now calling for entries.
“Entries can range from one to twenty minutes and could be a major drama piece or simple narration. There are two entry categories, students and open and the winning dramas will be recorded in front of a live audience,” said John Bullock, Fresh FM Station Manager.
“As in the previous years of the competition the winning dramas will be offered to Radio New Zealand for broadcast consideration.”
“Given the opportunities that ipods now offer authors and producers this competition is a great vehicle to gain experience and establish credentials.”
Fresh FM is this year’s principal sponsor and in May will run a season of locally produced dramas from previous competitions. The station also brings Kim Merry’s talent and expertise to the project as Executive Producer.
“As a tease for the May Drama Season the station will be broadcasting, ‘News of the Future,’ the locally written and recorded in Takaka play, which won highly commended in the 2005 New Zealand Radio Drama Competition,” said Mr. Bullock.
‘News of the Future’ will be broadcast tomorrow at 2.10pm and repeated in Thursday's Fresh Air Afternoon Show at 5.40pm. More details about the New Zealand Radio Drama competition, entry forms and the production guide are at www.freshfm.net
