New CEO for Chamber Music NZ
Chamber Music New Zealand has appointed Euan Murdoch as its new Chief Executive Officer. Euan leaves his position as Interim Director at the New Zealand School of Music to lead CMNZ.
Euan has had 25 years experience in the music industry and arts management in New Zealand and internationally. He has held leadership roles in tertiary music education and community sectors.
Euan has a long association with CMNZ, as a performer and as an adjudicator for the New Zealand Community Trust Chamber Music Contest. He is looking forward to joining the organisation. "I¹m thrilled to be offered the position", says Euan. "CMNZ has an impressive track record and proud tradition of presenting chamber music, and this is a wonderful opportunity to combine my strengths with the potential of this organisation."
CMNZ President Arnold Solomons said Euan¹s artistic management skills, leadership experience and his passion for chamber music impressed the recruitment committee and that Euan was delighted to be offered the position.
Euan replaces Brian Budd, who resigned earlier this year after eight successful years leading the organisation. Euan will take up the position on 1 February, 2006.

ABOUT EUAN MURDOCH
Euan Murdoch is currently Interim Director of the New Zealand School of Music, which combines Massey Conservatorium of Music and Victoria University of Wellington School of Music.
Euan Murdoch has had 25 years experience in the music industry and arts management in New Zealand and internationally. Euan has held leadership roles in the tertiary music education and community sectors. He has been recognised for visionary new initiatives and implementing creative soloutions and has a lifelong commitment to fostering music in New Zealand.
Committed to supporting community music initiatives, he has been a guest tutor for the remarkable Buskaid Soweto String Project since 1998.He was founding Director of the Victoria Academy of Music for pre-tertiary students.
He has had a long association with CMNZ, both performing for the organisation and adjudicating in the contest for secondary school students, the New Zealand Community Trust Chamber Music Contest.
Euan is also a cellist and chamber musician, regularly performing with New Zealand¹s top artists and ensembles.
