PUBLICITY RELEASE
FOR RELEASE WEEK MON JULY 11 TO SUN JULY 17
Ma Tatou – for Everyone
Maori Television is offering all iwi groups the opportunity to gain coverage of their events on the new grassroots
series MA TATOU, launching on Sunday July 17 at 6.30 PM.
Hosted by Te Hamua Nikora, the series presents iwi events, community heroes and stories from the motu each week. No hui
too big or too small is overlooked, from the inaugural Wairoa Film Festival to the launch of Hone Tuwhare’s new CD to
50th wedding anniversaries.
Every week, somewhere in Aotearoa, iwi are meeting, competing, participating and celebrating. MA TATOU is the show that
captures the colour and information of these events and brings both together for everyone to be included.
The first episode sets the focus for the ongoing series and examines what initiatives iwi groups are implementing to
revitalise te reo Maori.
Presenter Te Hamua Nikora (Ngati Porou, Ngati Kanohi, Te Whakatohea) is a seasoned hand in the realm of television. A
familiar face on a range of series and programmes including Pukana, Kai Time on the Road, Nga Hau Tipua and Hari
Huritau, Nikora now moves into the area of community initiatives to bolster his impressive CV. “I am so proud to be
involved in something so positive and uplifting for our people,” he adds.
