The 2005 New Zealand SWIMRUN Championship will be contested in conjunction with final event of the Structured Finance sponsored Stroke & Stride Series this Wednesday afternoon at St Heliers Bay, Auckland. The national championship status of this event has seen an increase in the prize money on offer alongside the $25,000 plus series money making it the richest Stroke & Stride Series in the 16 year history.
Current New Zealand SWIMRUN champions Brent Foster & Samantha Warriner look to defend their titles against a host of challengers both local and international including, Clark Ellice (NZL), Anja Dittmer (GER), Debbie Tanner (NZL), Nicole Cope (NZL), Shane Reed (NZL), Hirokatsu Tayama (JPN), Sam Walker (NZL), Liam Scopes (NZL), Daniel Lee (HKG) and Carmel Hanly (NZL). Some of these athletes are also in the hunt for the title of this season's Stroke & Stride Champion.
Legendary Brent Foster will be attempting to become an unprecedented twelve time Series Champion however is presently only 2 points clear of Clark Ellice.
The Stroke & Stride Series concludes on Thursday, March 10th with the sold out end-of-season Awards Dinner featuring guest speaker; the Athens gold medallist and NZ Sportsman of the Year Hamish Carter.
