Day Tickets Released For Womad New Zealand 2005
Single day and evening tickets have been released for WOMAD New Zealand 2005, taking place in Taranaki from 11-13 March
at New Plymouth’s Brooklands Park and TSB Bowl.
Tickets range in price from $50-80 across the three days, and will be available for sale after midnight on Christmas
Eve.
Three day passes are also still available at a cost of $145, with camping/marae accommodation costing an additional $30
per person. Children (12 and under) accompanied by an adult ticketholder are free (one child per adult). Tickets for
additional children are also available.
“We’re thrilled with the response for WOMAD with thousands of New Zealanders taking up the pre-Christmas discount offer.
Our pre Christmas sales this year, compared to the 2003 event, have almost tripled,” festival director Roger King says.
The line-up for WOMAD (World of Music, Arts and Dance) features 375 performers from 15 countries delivering musical
styles from folk to hip hop, classical to reggae beats, gospel to ska and everything in between.
Performers include original Woodstock artist Richie Havens, Grammy Award-winning Kronos Quartet, Grammy Award-nominated
reggae artist Alpha Blondy and his 16-piece band The Solar System, Senegalese hip hop sensation Daara J and the very
funky Zap Mama from Belgium and the Congo.
Aboriginal rock music pioneer George Rrurrambu features with his new rock reggae band Birdwave, as well as young UK folk
musician Jim Moray, France’s Les Yeux Noirs and Lo ‘Jo, Indian vocalist Rashid Khan, Israeli composer, violinist and oud
(Middle Eastern lute) player Yair Dalal, celtic musicians Capercaillie, Vusi Mahlasela from South Africa, and Drum Drum
from Australia and Papua New Guinea.
A solid line-up of New Zealand performers includes Mahinarangi Tocker, Rick Bryant’s Jubilation choir, Bravura with
Jackie Clarke and Te Matarae I Orehu.
Further international and New Zealand acts will be announced on January 13.

Day and evening tickets for WOMAD cost: Friday (evening) adult $60; Saturday (all day and evening) adult $80; Saturday
(evening) and Sunday (all day and evening) adult $70; Sunday (evening) adult $50; Three day tickets cost adult $145.
