Author of the Year award winner caps an extraordinary year
Not one, but two international best selling books, published in the USA this year, was part of the reason behind Maria Carlton being named Author of the Year 2004, by the National Speakers Association of NZ.
On presenting the award, NSA (Auckland) President Ann Andrews CSP said: "Authorship is a very important aspect of a professional speaker's skill set and resume. Using books successfully to position herself as a speaker of note is something that Maria has done very well.
"It is understood by both speakers and authors in Australasia that breaking into the American market is extremely hard to do, and for Maria to achieve this with two separate publishers there, inside of one year, is quite extraordinary," said Andrews.
Maria's books, both of which are co-authored with other international business experts, have taken her to America and Australia for speaking and consulting work this year. Her travels included presenting at the American Advertising Specialty Institute in Las Vegas in March, along with international presenter Michael Gerber, author of the celebrated E-Myth business book series.
Following this success Maria has been asked to write on an ongoing basis for a leading USA marketing magazine, IMPRINT in 2005, which is subscribed to by thousands of advertising industry specialists.
Fellow nominees for the Author of the Year Award 2004 included Robyn Pearce CSP and Past President of NSANZ, and Ken Ring - author of 30 books.
