Waatea 603am launches new website
On Tuesday 23 November, Radio Waatea launched a new website intended to be a vehicle for the public to stay informed on Maori current affairs, from anywhere in the world.
A major aspect of the website is the pioneering initiative of posting national news summaries from a Maori perspective, in te reo. This will be delivered by the Waatea News room in Auckland. Visitors can also be informed of community based programs and meetings via the panui page.
Waatea 603am marketing manager Tipare Iti says “The new website was designed to give all people an opportunity to be involved in the Maori world. They can listen in live to talkback, current affairs, and hourly news bulletins, as well as contribute their own views and opinions with the voting poll and comments sections.” The website is bi-lingual to insure accessibility to English and Maori speakers.
A concerted effort towards the promotion of Maori music figures heavily on the site with artist profiles, top five, and latest release sections specifically for NZ music. Links to the other major Maori websites also appear, supporting the use of information technology among other Maori organizations.
The website can be visited at http://www.waatae603am.co.nz.
