New appointments at the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery
The Govett-Brewster Art Gallery is pleased to announce four new appointments following recommendations from an internal
review conducted last year.
The appointments reflect a mix of local knowledge and international experience says Govett-Brewster Art Gallery Director
Gregory Burke. "The calibre of staff we have attracted is a reflection of the strong reputation the Gallery has both
nationally and internationally."
"The expansion of the team coincides with the next development phase the Gallery is entering into, further lifting the
bar of New Zealand's foremost contemporary art gallery," he says.
Manager Marketing and Customer Development Clare Blackman joins the Gallery from the Tate Modern where as Assistant
Visitor Services Manager she managed 50 gallery assistants and eight supervisors and was in the team responsible for the
day-to-day duty management of the Gallery. Prior to the Tate Modern, Clare was Assistant Visitor Services Manager for
the Millennium Dome where she managed the VIP and Special Events Team.
Communications Co-ordinator Tracey Howarth has over seven years communications experience. Most recently she worked as a
Publicist at Montana in Auckland for four years. In this role she was responsible for all corporate and brand public
relations. Prior to Montana she held a communications and marketing role with the America's Cup 2000 in Auckland.
Designer Hayden Chambers brings fours years of international design and multimedia experience to the Gallery. Most
recently Hayden worked as a freelance designer in Madrid. Hayden has also worked for advertising company Young & Rubicam in Auckland as well as freelance design work with the Auckland Art Gallery and the Auckland War Memorial
Museum.
Assistant Curator Charlotte Huddleston joins the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery from Wellington's Enjoy Public Art Gallery
where she was the Gallery Manager for three years. Charlotte also brings international experience to the Gallery. Most
recently she attended a five-day Art Experience workshop with Rirkrit Tiravanija in Venice and in late 2002 Charlotte
completed a three-month internship at the Smithsonian American Art Museum.
