Leisa Siteine from Manukau City Council’s Arts’ Community Outreach Services says, “Once again we had a range of entries of a high standard which made the judging very difficult. It was good to have a range of schools entering with Manukau well represented. The audience was treated to an afternoon of artistic expression to remind everyone of the pool of talent right here in the Auckland region. No doubt many of these artists will have their eye on future New Zealand Idol (or similar) competitions to hone and showcase their talent. I wish them all the best in their endeavours.
“The lucky winners will share in the $4000 prize money. I would like to thank all those who entered, and extend congratulations to Tamaki College and Kelston Girls High School the overall winning schools, who will share a special trophy.
“Special thanks must also go to all the tutors who assisted the students in their preparation. We are also extremely grateful to the Botany Secondary College for the use of their superb new state of the art Panasonic Performing Arts Centre, which opened in 2003.”
