After Air New Zealand Fashion Week – Enter New Zealand Runway
With Air New Zealand Fashion Week established as New Zealand’s premier fashion event, the time is now right for a consumer event to profile the connection between New Zealand fashion and design.
Enter New Zealand Runway, an event that will showcase the very best of New Zealand fashion, design and lifestyle in the space vacated by the collections over Labour Weekend (22-25 October) at 135 Halsey St, Auckland Viaduct Harbour
While not part of the “official” Air New Zealand Fashion Week schedule, Runway will offer fashion fans who miss out on the trade shows, a chance to experience a taste of the event.
Air New Zealand Fashion Week will reproduce the highly popular public “Best of.. shows” to feature during Runway, alongside a number of in-season runway shows.
It’s these highly popular “Best of.. shows” that provide the link between the two events, explains managing director of Air New Zealand Fashion Week, Pieter Stewart.
“In the four years that we’ve held the collections, we’ve been constantly amazed and excited by the public interest in the highlights of the shows. As our public shows are always a sell out, it makes perfect sense to offer another opportunity for people to view the highlights and Runway is that solution!”
Additional catwalk shows at Runway will feature fashion from other local and international designers while people will be able to purchase the latest designer fashions on show in the Fashion Walk area.
Also on show will be the best of New Zealand furniture, product, interior and object design, New Zealand music and dance, and innovative New Zealand food and wine.
“Runway is a celebration of New Zealand’s fashion, innovation and lifestyle and offers the public the opportunity to experience the best in innovation and originality from some of New Zealand’s finest fashion, lifestyle and design creators,” says New Zealand Runway organiser Charleen Oliver.
Air New Zealand Fashion Week Managing Director Pieter Stewart says Runway represents the evolution of New Zealand’s interest in design
“Air New Zealand Fashion Week has created real momentum for the fashion trade in New Zealand, and with this has come increasing demand for consumer access to the best of New Zealand fashion. As a trade event our focus has to be on buyers and generating export sales, so we’re very pleased that Runway allows the public to experience Air New Zealand Fashion Week.
