Toyota is delighted to be supporting Team New Zealand for a fifth successive America’s Cup campaign. The failure of the 2003 defence should not be the last chapter in New Zealand’s long and distinguished participation in this great event. Toyota firmly believes the Team can go all the way and bring the Cup back to New Zealand.
Toyota New Zealand
At Toyota New Zealand we focus on putting the customer at the centre of the business and we strive to provide high quality products and services that meet our customers’ needs. For 16 years straight Toyota has been the most popular choice of vehicle with New Zealanders.
Our Everyday People brand positioning has evolved to develop the stories of everyday New Zealanders and their Toyota’s. We will continue to reflect the changing face of New Zealand and forge even stronger links between Toyota and New Zealanders resulting in long term relationships with our customers.
We are also committed to be a good corporate citizen and a leading contributor to the community. We have road safety and environmental strategies to help people to drive more safely in order to be able to enjoy the unique country we live in. Toyota sponsors Prodrive, Students Against Drunk Driving (SADD) and the Alchemy schools programme and we have a long standing relationship with WWF.
In New Zealand we have embarked on a long-term programme to reduce the local environmental footprint of our operations. We have halved the amount of waste leaving our national customer centre in the past year and are working towards being a zero waste operation in the future. Our Signature Class plant at Thames has just been accredited with ISO 9001:2000, the first used vehicle operation in the world to achieve this certification. We have also recently launched the new petrol/electric Prius which is environmentally friendly, fuel efficient and delivers the performance of an equivalent petrol vehicle.
Toyota also actively supports young New Zealand sporting talent and has sponsorships designed to help these young people achieve their dreams and aspirations. Toyota Grassroots and Heartland Rugby, Toyota Young Rider of the Year, the 2004 Toyota Optimist Nationals and our support of NZ Yachting are examples of these.
An exciting campaign on the horizon for us next year is the Toyota Racing Series, New Zealand’s new premier single seater category launching in 2005 onto the New Zealand motor sport scene. This is in conjunction with our Formula 1 progress will engender excitement and passion for staff and customers alike.
Finally we look forward to extending our 15-year relationship with Team New Zealand and we hope to join with all New Zealanders in once more bringing the Americas Cup home to its rightful place.
