Grampa Moff, Hot Swiss Mistress and the Murdochs: Happy, March 20
Think you’ve seen it all? Reckon everything out there right now is tired and regurgitated? Here’s a night out to prove you wrong! Some things can be old, new and utterly fantastic all at the same time…
See and believe - guitar played behind the back, between the legs and with the teeth! Scarves, flares, moccasins, big hair-dos and velvet jackets: Wellington’s very own cheeky, psychedelic, 60s style funk rock band Grampa Moff have been described as a reincarnation of Hendrix combined with catchy bubble gum vocal lines. The trio was originally started by singer/guitarist Connan Hosford in mid 2003, and was later joined by bassist Blake Pryor and drummer Chris Chalmers. As well as concentrating on the music, live performance is very important for the band. With Connan being extremely cheeky, Blake being very naughty and Chris being a little wild, Grampa Moff's live shows are something not to be missed!
Also appearing is current ‘it’ band Hot Swiss Mistress, direct from numerous support slots of late including a star-filled night with Kahu and a sell-out gig with the Accelerants. Breathing new life into old school Flying Nun sensibilities while forging their own unique and original style, the Hot Swiss Mistress sound is a breath of fresh air in a world that’s surely tired of same-old garage rock bands. You’ve heard about them – now’s your chance to see Hot Swiss Mistress in the flesh.
Live at Happy, cnr Vivian and Tory Sts, Wellington, Saturday March 20, with support from the Murdochs.
