Inaugural Ethnic Soccer Festival
The first ever Christchurch Ethnic Soccer Festival is being held on Saturday 31st January and Sunday 1st February. This new and exciting event has attracted 16 teams representing the various ethnic communities present in Christchurch. Teams entered include Russian, Zimbabwean, Polish, Somali, Muslim, Korean, Tongan, Dutch, Chinese and Indian.
The Festival kicks off on Saturday 31st January with preliminary play at the New Brighton Soccer Club, Bexley Reserve, on Pages Road starting 9.00 am and finishing at 4.30 pm. Sunday sees the semi finals and finals English Park, 127 Cranford Street from 9.30 am to 3 pm. Entry is free.
This event will be a great opportunity for the whole family to experience the cultural diversity that exists in Christchurch and to enjoy the fair like atmosphere at finals day with ethnic food stalls and entertainment.

This event is sponsored by Plains FM and organised by Mainland Soccer, The Office of Ethnic Affairs and Christchurch City Council.
