Gainsford Lane to Play Cathedral Square
Free Friday Lunchtime Concert, Cathedral Square, Friday October 3rd, 12.15 to 1.15pm.
Steve Gainsford and Malcolm Lane are an institution around Christchurch, and have been playing as Gainsford Lane for about 8 years. Together they will perform this Friday lunchtime in Cathedral Square as part of the Free Friday Lunchtime Concert Series.
Specialising in a variety of blues based contemporary music, along with original compositions; Steve and Malcolm got together initially to produce music for CRY TV. Since then they have performed regularly at the Arts Centre and throughout the local bar and club scene.
Steve's distinctive bluesy voice and guitar are instantly recognizable, and represent the focal point of his band 'The Zippers'.
Malcolm has been a 'muso' since the 1960's, and was a founding member of 'Piece of Mind in 1972. these days, other than Gainsford Lane, he is now also a member of the jazz/blues trio Harpjazz.
